What We're All About

Dear gifted and beautiful reader,

We love the Church, and making it every life-giving thing God intended it to be is the purpose of Worldwide House Church. God created a worldwide body of fulfilled people, with Jesus as its head, to meet everyone’s earthly and eternal needs through the best means possible. We believe in this triune God, in the preeminence of his Bible, in his unique solution of Jesus, and in this opportunity for restoration and resurrection. And we also believe in his multi-denominational, global Church. But this body of Christ has become very sick; the Church has found itself far from home.

There is a desire to make the Church what humans want at the cost of what God originated. This has led to resulting division and anger at the cost of unity. This has led to a redundant waste of resources among competing institutions at the cost of efficacy. This has led to the pursuit of bigger and better amenities for the overserved at the cost of maximizing aid to the underserved. This has led to environmentally unfriendly facilities, travel, and trips at the cost of far more green and effective alternatives. This has led to valid critiques from the secular world at the cost of optimizing justice and creation care in a way they would admire. This has led to a timid retreat into localized church institutions that primarily use their time and resources preserving their own well-being, at the cost of maximizing their ability to nourish the health of the global Body of Christ.

Worldwide House Church is an exciting way to follow Jesus in reversing these trends! Clergy and facilities can offer great value, but they’re used so ineffectively and inefficiently, competing with others by financing similar services to woo the same folks. In contrast, Jesus and his New Testament Church never embraced big budgets, costly staffing schemes, or stylish buildings. The focus instead was gathering organically in homes or greenspaces to teach whatever truth people most needed to hear and to prioritize aid to people most in need. And today’s numerous free online resources make this so effective and efficient!

Therefore, one service we offer is a network of house churches, regular gatherings of 2-20 people connected through family, work, or play. Your group meets at the time and place of your choice, with free access to hundreds of topically-arranged teachings and worship options from around the world, for youth and adults. This allows you to be nourished by the whole Body, enjoy personalized accountability / encouragement, and praise God in the ways you find most meaningful.

Even better, we help you maximize the blessing you offer the world in return! Whether you give personally or within one of these communities, you choose from a diverse list of the organizations best proven by research to be the most effective for the world’s neediest. At WHC, simply by donating what you can directly to the cause you’re most passionate about, you can multiply the good your giving/tithing does by literally hundreds to thousands! WHC doesn’t want or receive any of your money, because it’s far better spent on those who do the best work serving those most in need!

In transitioning from decades of committed institutional church participation to WHC, we can personally verify the immense fulfillment and value offered by this very old, new way of doing church.

Even at churches we loved, we found that Sunday service socializing and random sermons weren’t as fruitful as intentional discussion targeted to our situations. Awkward mingling and Sunday-best facades weren’t as welcoming as people who already knew, accepted, and did life with us during the week. Quickly forgotten teachings and children’s lessons (just being honest!) weren’t as educational as the interactive accountability WHC provides, as our own kids consistently confirm.

And large energy-inefficient buildings and sprawling car-filled parking lots aren’t as green as using a laptop in a home or park. Inviting people with faith questions to an institution criticized for its baggage and hypocrisy isn’t as easy as inviting them to hang at your house. And donating hard-earned money toward the latest tech or a stylish renovation isn’t nearly as justifiable as using it instead to save thousands of lives that church institutions haven’t.

We love Worldwide House Church and have never looked back! And after experiencing how much more fulfilled and fruitful you can be here, we don’t think you’ll wanna look back either.
